How to Conduct a Successful Freight Bid


Dan Goodwill & Associates Inc. will work with your company to develop a Freight Program that will ensure the consistent and reliable delivery of raw materials to your plants and the timely and cost effective movement of finished products to your customers. The process we follow consists of the following steps:
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of your objectives and desired outcomes from a strategic, tactical and / or execution perspective
  • Gather and cleanse your shipping data and secure information on seasonal fluctuations, growth rates and your unique operational requirements
  • Transform your shipping data into a transportation blueprint and /or network design
  • Prepare a complete bid package with the proposed pricing methodology (i.e. discount off Czar Lite tariff), bid instructions and requirements and select carriers that are a fit with the transportation blueprint
  • Execute the bid
  • Analyze the data including both costs and carrier capabilities
  • Arrange meetings with the short listed primary and backup carriers to negotiate contract length and renewal procedures, rates, fuel and other accessorial charges and incentive programs
  • Prepare Routing Guide, 360 degree Scorecard and arrange carrier meetings to review operational (i.e drop trailer, scheduled daily pickup) requirements
