Dan Goodwill, MBA, P. Log
Dan Goodwill has held executive level positions with some of the largest trucking and logistics companies in North America. He has a long and successful track record in profit improvement, business start-ups, acquisitions, turnarounds, cost-saving programs and building businesses through organic growth.
Since forming Dan Goodwill & Associates in 2004, Dan has focused his consulting efforts on assisting shippers in Canada, the United States and Mexico to more effectively manage their freight transportation programs. He has successfully completed consulting assignments in a variety of industries that include the pulp and paper, food, beverage, electrical supplies, industrial products and telecommunications verticals. Dan is particularly knowledgeable in all modes of surface transport and shippers benefit greatly from his extensive carrier knowledge, contacts and rate negotiation skills.
Dan also helps trucking and third party logistics companies build their business, research new markets, assess potential acquisitions and improve their profitability. Dan is a frequent speaker at industry events and is well known for his blog on current transportation topics.
Jim Papineau, Director of Supply Chain Systems & Automation
Jim’s career has included senior positions in IT design, development and management in both the transportation and technology industries. Whether it is a technical issue or an operational challenge, his focus is to create the capacity within an organization to deliver effective distribution and technology solutions to meet specific supply chain execution requirements.
Jim’s work for DG&A clients covers a wide spectrum. He is a great asset to our organization and focuses on the processes and technology available to improve operations, reduce costs and increase customer service. These areas of focus include but are not limited to:
- Process and systems performance improvements
- TMS selection and implementation
- Integration of operations and administration processes
- Accurate, complete and timely operational data capture
- Management reporting for operational and administration objectives
- Customer and business partner integration (EDI, web, etc.)
- Service quality monitors and reports
Ray Haight, Senior Transportation Consultant
Ray Haight was a driver and Owner Operator for 10 years. In 1984 he started Southwestern Express Inc. based in London Ontario, which grew into a successful dry van and refrigerated 50-truck fleet. In 1990 MacKinnon Transport Ltd. was brought in as a partner. In January of 2000, MacKinnon Transport Ltd. and Southwestern Express Inc. were amalgamated. Ray held the position of President and COO until May of 2005; at that time MacKinnon Transport Inc. was a 175-truck van and 100 truck flatbed fleet augmented with both warehousing and logistics. He is a past Chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association, the PTDI Professional Truck Drivers Institute and the NATMI North American Training and Management Institute. Ray is also the co-founder of TCA inGauge, an online benchmarking management tool that services the trucking industry.
Laura Tizzard, Senior Pricing Analyst
Laura Tizzard has over 20 years experience in pricing, rating and auditing. Her career includes key roles with several of Canada’s major carriers including Daily Transport, Alltrans Express and Kingsway Transport.
As an integral part of the DG&A team Laura’s role is to provide industry insight and recommendations for shippers, carriers and logistics companies in the following areas:
- Pricing and freight analytics
- Freight rate benchmarking
- Rate negotiations
