President Trump is planning to impose tariffs on a variety of imports entering the United States and threatening to annex Canada as America’s 51st state. These threats are having a range of impacts. In Canada they have triggered anger, despair but also unity. Tariffs on steel, aluminum and other commodities will have a direct impact on these industries but indirectly on other industries including freight transportation.
As a result, I decided to publish a weekly newsletter entitled Trump’s Economic War. It is designed to share information on the nature and impacts of specific tariffs, the impact they are having on particular industries including shipping and transportation, and how cope with emotional whiplash that many of us are feeling.
